NEWSLETTER - MAY 27TH

Dear Parents and Sweet Children,

I just want to take a moment to let you know what a privilege it has been working with your families this year! The children have grown and learned soooo much!

This week was a special time of fun and bonding! Our end-of-the-year party at Chuck E. Cheese on Monday was so much fun! On Tuesday, we had a great time at our Bling Party, and we also watched a Veggie Tales rendition of the song “You Are My Sunshine!” I told the children that, each and every day this year, they have been my sunshine! They have brightened up my days with their smiles, laughter, and hugs! On Wednesday, we celebrated with field day! What a great time we had playing all of the games! I especially enjoyed doing the Slip ‘N Slide with the kids! And today, of course, was a special time of recognizing all of the sweeties for being who God made them to be!

Of all of the things I have taught the children this year, the thing I want them to remember most of all is this: God loves them more than anything...and He wants them to love Him back and to love other people. If we could all just remember this one thing, what a wonderful world we would live in!

You will all be in my prayers this summer and in my hearts forever! I love you more than words can say!

In Christ’s Name,

:) Jen Corsino

PS If anyone would like to get together over the summer, my number is 214-7520. I know that Gavin would love to see your sweet ones, and I would love to see you, too! XOXOXOXO

NEWSLETTER - MAY 21ST

Hi, everyone! We've made it to the end of another great week in second grade...the LAST FULL WEEK OF SECOND GRADE, in fact!!! Where, oh where did this year go?!?!?! It has been a wonderful time full of learning and fun memories!!!

This week we did lots and lots!!! We read several selections about our country and continued learning about sea life! We are almost done with our Magic School Bus book all about sea life...it's a great story! We discussed what's happening with the oil spill which sparked lots of discussion about responsibility AND forgiveness! We reviewed lots of the things we learned in math and language arts this year, too, and wrote letters to our friends.

The highlight of the week, of course, was the "Down by the Creek Bank" show. I am soooooo proud of all of the kids' hard work. Weren't they great? More than anything, though, I pray that the message of the show lives in their hearts forever!

Next week is just going to FLY BY!!! Here are some important announcements and reminders:

*Monday, 5/24 - End of the year party at Chuck E. Cheese
Feel free to send some extra cash with your child if you'd like him/her to have more tokens!
*DON'T FORGET TO SEND IN A $5.00 GIFT CARD BY MONDAY!!! PICK A PLACE THAT YOUR CHILD LIKES AND PUT YOUR CHILD'S NAME ON IT! EACH CHILD WILL GET ONE DURING THE AWARDS CEREMONY NEXT THURSDAY!

*Wednesday, 5/26 - FIELD DAY - 9:30-2:30. See Coach Madasz if you'd like to volunteer to help on this fun-filled day! Boys may wear bathing suits and t-shirts, and girls may wear bathing suits under their clothes, because they may get wet!!! Be sure to apply sunscreen to your child before sending him/her to school that day!!!
*Thursday, 5/27 - Last Day of School!!! We will have a short awards ceremony in our classroom starting that day at 8:15. I hope you all can come! Dismissal will officially be at 11:30 that day...but you may feel free to take your Sweetie and start summer early when the award ceremony is over, if you'd like!!!

As the year is winding down, I've been thinking about all of the things the children have learned. My prayer is that, if they remember nothing else, they remember this one thing. Jesus told us that the MOST IMPORTANT THING to do in your life is to "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind...love your neighbor as yourself" (Matthew 22:37-39). No matter what we do from day to day in our lives, the thing that God cares about the most is that we love Him and love others.

Have a great weekend!

In Christ's Name,
Mrs. Corsino and Mrs. Ludwig

Next week, Mrs. Corsino's star student will be LAUREN.

Hi, everyone!!! HAPPY, HAPPY FRIDAY!!! It's been a FANTASTIC week here at NCS! As summer is right around the corner, we will be studying oceans and sea life for the remainder of the year! This week, each child began researching either an animal or a plant of interest that lives in the ocean. Mrs. Corsino's class made a fun ocean board, too! Each child made his/her animal or plant out of construction paper---it's soooooo cute! We also discussed the oil spill and the impact it could have on the ocean and on beaches, and we spent some time praying about this, too!

Here are some other things we learned:

*Math - We did TONS of review, focusing on multiplication and division.
*Language Arts - We reviewed types of sentences, comma usage, apostrophe usage, nouns/verbs/adjectives/adverbs, and pronouns.

*Social Studies - We studied early American life.
*Handwriting - We continued learning how to form lower case letters in cursive.

This week during my personal devotion time I am continuing to read in the Book of Job. When I read Chapter 12, verse10 jumped out at me. It says, "In [God's] hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind." What a wonderful truth! God holds all of us in the palm of His hand...and He will never drop us! No matter what we may go through in this life...and none of us is going through what Job went through...we need to remember that God's eyes are upon us. We are in His strong hands, and in the end He will make everything right!

Have a blessed weekend!

In Christ's Name,
Mrs. Corsino and Mrs. Ludwig

PS Mrs. Corsino's Star Student next week will be BAILEY! Mrs. Ludwig's will be TAYLOR!

We did lots and lots of learning this week! Here are some highlights of what we did:

*Bible - We practiced our passage, Ephesians 6:10-20, LOTS! We also talked about how we can be missionaries and how we have "beautiful feet" when we spread God's good news!

Here are some important reminders:
*Friday, 5/14 - Last day the children have to wear uniforms!!!
*5/20 - Elementary Concert at Northside Baptist Church - 7:00 PM
*FRIDAY, 5/21 - LAST DAY FOR HOT LUNCHES!!! Please be sure to pack a lunch each day for the last week of school...except Monday when we'll be at Chuck E. Cheese!!!
*Monday, 5/24 - End of the year party at Chuck E. Cheese - You may send extra money with your child that day if you want him/her to be able to buy extra tokens.
*5/26 - FIELD DAY - 9:30-2:30. See Coach Madascz if you'd like to volunteer to help on this fun-filled day! Boys may wear bathing suits and t-shirts, and girls may wear bathing suits under their clothes, because they may get wet!!! Be sure to apply sunscreen to your child before sending him/her to school that day!!!
*5/27 - Last Day of School!!!

This week during my personal devotion time, I've been reading in the book of Job. Whenever I hear a sermon or read a commentary on this Book it usually discusses how "off base" Job's friends were...and later in the book when they started giving advice, they were...but the thing that struck me during my reading this time was Job Chapter 2 verse 13. Prior to this verse, Job had lost his children, his livestock, and his servants, and he had gotten terrible sores all over his body. His friends showed up after hearing about his trouble, and the Bible tells us that "...they sat on the ground with him for seven days and seven nights. No one said a word to him, because they saw how great his suffering was." His friends just came and sat with him...they didn't even open their mouths. (In fact, when they DO open their mouths later, they say all the wrong things.) We can all learn a valuable lesson here. When people are going through difficult times in their lives, we really don't have to SAY anything. We just need to be there for them!

Have a FANTASTIC weekend!

In Christ's Name,
Mrs. Corsino and Mrs. Ludwig
