Summer Update - July 13, 2010

Hi, everyone! I pray that you are all having a summer filled with both relaxation and FUN! My summer has been INCREDIBLE! I went on my dream vacation...a trip to Israel...and had the TIME OF MY LIFE being where Jesus lived! I met wonderful people, saw amazing sights, and learned a lot, too!

Here in Florida, my boys and I have also had tons of fun! We went to Busch Gardens, Adventure Island, the mall, the beach, the flea market, the movies, and bowling! I read lots and lots of great books, too...I just LOOOOOVE to read!

I can't wait until the first week of school so that I can hear all about the fun things you've done! I love you and am praying for all of you! It's going to be a GREAT year!!!

Weekly Bible Verse

Each week, we will spend some time memorizing God's Word! For the next few weeks, we will be working on learning Ephesians 6:10-18: "Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore, put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit, which is the Word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep praying for the saints" (Ephesians 6:10-18).

Homework

THIS WEEK FOR HOMEWORK, HAVE YOUR CHILD STUDY THE 8'S TIMES TABLES AND READ, READ, READ!

Please be sure to have your child read for AT LEAST 45 minutes each week and record the minutes on the monthly Reading Calendar. These are due the FIRST OF EACH MONTH.

Also, each week, a Homework Packet will come home in the Friday Folder. It will contain:

*a math review sheet

*a phonics or language arts review sheet

*a short book report about a book that your child has read

This will be due the following Thursday!

*Each child will also need to practice the weekly spelling words.

Each child will also be expected to memorize the weekly Bible verse. This test will be given each Thursday, as well.

It is also a good idea to practice cursive handwriting, addition facts, and subtraction facts.
