HELLO!!! Happy May!!! It sure was a great week here in second grade!!! I felt so APPRECIATED by all of you and your sweet children! Thanks so much for all of the notes, cards, flowers, gift cards, and gifts. I was overwhelmed by your kindness and generosity!!! I DEFINITELY felt loved!!!We kicked off the week with our "Track Attack!" The children really enjoyed walking and running around the track to fun praise and worship music, and they were so proud of themselves for doing something for our school! Thanks so much to those of you who sent in labels and came out and walked with us! It was a fun time! Thanks also for all of the wonderful Teacher Appreciation cards and gifts---I feel so loved!!!
Of course, the highlight of the week was our Mother's Day celebration this morning! You all have been such a blessing to me this year...I pray that you know how loved you are by me...by your sweet children...and by the Lord!
Here are some other things we did throughout the week:
*Bible - We continued learning Ephesians 6:10-18 and discussing it.
*Reading - We did LOTS of silent independent reading and practiced using reading strategies! The more you read, the better you read!!!

*Math - We spent LOTS of time learning our 6's this week! We sang a song, learned to skip count, played games, and practiced on the Smart Board! Next week we will spend the ENTIRE WEEK learning our 7s. Please be sure to practice at home each night! Next Thursday, we will have a timed test on our 7s!!!
*Writing - We continued to write friendly letters to our classmates!!!

This week during my personal devotion time at home, I've been reading in the Book of 1 Corinthians. Today I read Chapter 15, and verses 56-58 jumped out at me. These verses say:
"The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain."
Have a SUPER-DUPER weekend!
In Christ's Name,
Jen Corsino
PS Next week's Star Author will be JULIAN!
PPS I will not be here at school next Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday. Mrs. Newland, Mrs. Cooke, and I have the opportunity to attend a wonderful reading conference. Word has it that the author of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid will be there!!! Mrs. Clees will be here in my absence so I know the children will be in good hands!
SECRET WORD: MOM
